PTO Update for May, 2010 The Fair Café building has been cleaned out. Commercial use items are on consignment and other usable items have been removed and are stored in Nolan's barn. They will be sorted through and places found where they could be best used. PTO has donated $75 to 6 students who went to state in Academic Competitions. They also donated $500 to DeAnn Campos funeral fund. $7000 from the old Fair Café Fund was donated to the school for textbooks. These funds were to complete the matching funds needed for the grant received last year. Mustang Round up Committee is in full swing working on plans for next year. It will continue as a dinner dance and the reverse raffle prize will be $10,000. This year tickets will be sold individually, and there will be a live and silent auction. We are planning for food to be prepared by volunteers, and there will be much service opportunity for our parents. They can even earn service hours for auction items donated (1 hour for each $25 value). More information will be coming in the mail. The Mustang Roundup is a school fund raiser and the funds raised will go directly to the school to fund needed areas. Part of the funds are planned to go towards getting a replacement bus. If it goes really well there will be no need for a spring fund raiser, so get involved and really support this event. PTO is looking at making some shifts in its focus. The major fund raising would be done by fund raising committees for each fund raiser and the funds would go directly to the school. PTO would focus on having programs with special speakers of interest to our parents and their children's education preceded by a brief meeting. They would possibly change to quarterly or every other month meetings. They would continue in their role of hospitality for school functions. Funding for PTO would be provided by $20 from each student's registration fee since every parent is a member of PTO. If necessary an additional small fund raiser would be considered. All of these ideas will be discussed at the upcoming PTO meeting this week on Wednesday the 12th at 7:00 p.m. If you cannot attend and would like to give some input on these potential changes, please feel free to email me. We will also be installing new officers at the meeting, Lori Greer will move into the presidency, Stephanie Frausto has volunteered to become Vice President, Ria Derryberry will continue as secretary, and Mary Crow will continue as treasurer. |
